This
is what BATSFORD TIMBER is all about. Our long time associations
with farming and fencing has made us an authority. Round stakes
for agricultural users generally start at the 5ft 6 inches tall
and about 2 inches diameter. The most popular size is the three-four
inches diameter, which is ideal for most farm stock fencing.
We have been a producer of stakes and poles for quite some
years now, having invested in specialist machinery to give
a well-balanced and strong stake. Equally important is the
method of treatment.
Properly impregnated, these stakes should have an extended
life approaching 25 years (although in some cases, ground
conditions can have a significant bearing on this).
The other method of timber treatment is hot Pressure impregnated
creosote (the same as telegraph poles). In many cases, these
have been reported to last in excess of 60+ years. This
principle still applies to sawn timber as well as round.
Yes - pressure creosote timber is dearer, but does make excellent
value in the longer term.
